Harmony House Team Harmony

The Harmony house is a project by Team Harmony for the Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME) in November 2021. The aim of the team was to produce a zero-emissions house. The house was designed to reflect Emirati culture in combination with modern technologies. The team won a 2nd place price in BIPV, sustainability, engineering and construction contest.

The house features a BIPV façade based on SOL-R&D technology in partnership with Kameleon Solar. Together with the solar panels on the roof, the BIPV installation generated 17496 kWh per year. Enough to fully cover the house’s energy consumption.

The graphic design was made by a local artist and shows artistic calligraphy quotes about sustainability from Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The double-skin BIPV structure acts as a wind tunnel between the PV panels and the interior to cool the house down.
