Solar Facade Pavilion receives European support

SOL-R&D and V8 Architects are joining forces to develop the Solar Facade Pavilion: a public demonstration of how architectural façades can generate renewable energy without compromising design freedom.

The pavilion will integrate SOL-R&D’s graphic photovoltaic technology, which combines colour, imagery and solar energy generation within a glass façade. It will demonstrate the technology at architectural scale in Rotterdam.

During the project, the partners will further develop and test the photovoltaic modules, work towards certification and create digital tools that help architects integrate the technology into their designs. The pavilion itself is designed by V8 Architects and will be revealed at a later stage.

The project has a total budget of €516,950 and receives €206,780 in European funding through Kansen voor West III.

Co-funded by the European Union and Kansen voor West III through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
